비룽가 국립공원
* 콩고의 북동부에 위치한 공원은 표고 800m의 저지로부터 5,109m의 빙하까지 이어져 있으며, 그 사이에 사바나, 열대우림, 습지대 등 변화가 많은 풍경이 펼쳐진다.
* 79만ha의 면적에 다양한 동물상 분포하며, 2만 마리의 하마, 산 고릴라 등과 시베리아에서 겨울을 보내기 위해 온 철새들의 서식지이다.
* 셈리키 계곡과 비룽가산 기슭은 마운틴고릴라의 서식지로, 전세계에 생존하고 있는 약 650마리 가운데 반이 여기 서식한다.
* 비룽가 화산군에 있는 이라곤고(Nyiragongo)산과 냐무라기라(Nyamulagira)산은 활화산으로 1994년에도 대규모 분화를 일으켰다.

* Virunga National Park (covering an area of 790,000 ha) comprises an outstanding diversity of habitats, ranging from swamps and steppes to the snowfields of Rwenzori at an altitude of over 5,000 m, and from lava plains to the savannahs on the slopes of volcanoes. Mountain gorillas are found in the park, some 20,000 hippopotamuses live in the rivers and birds from Siberia spend the winter there.

킬리만자로 국립공원 (Kilimanjaro National Park)
* 탄자니아 북동쪽 끝 평원에서 급경사를 이룬 거의 완벽한 형상의 화산인 킬리만자로산은 아프리카 최고봉(고도 5,895m)으로 아프라카에서 가장 웅장한 풍경 중의 하나로 꼽힌다.
* 아직도 활동하고 있는 이 화산과 눈 덮힌 정상에서 보이는 사바나의 울창한 삼림과 드넓은 평원은 가히 장관을 이룸.
* 멸종위기 동물을 비롯한 수많은 포유동물이 서식.

* At 5,895 m, Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa. This volcanic massif stands in splendid isolation above the surrounding plains, with its snowy peak looming over the savannah. The mountain is encircled by mountain forest. Numerous mammals, many of them endangered species, live in the park.
