아샨티 전통건축물 (Ashanti Traditional Buildings)
* 아프리카 서부 가나의 아샨티족 전통 건축물군들로 18세기에 번영을 구가하던 아샨티 문명의 유적. 나무와 짚으로 만든 지상 가옥 등 유적이 있으나 기후와 시간이 지남에 따라 점차 파괴되어 가고 있음.
* 가나와 서아프리카 전 지역에서 중요한 의미를 갖는 종교적 건축물군으로서 20세기 초 영국군과의 전쟁으로 건축물 대부분이 파괴되었고 지금 남아 있는 13개 마을의 건축물은 20세기에 도시궁전을 본떠서 새로 지은 것이다.
* To the north-east of Kumasi, these are the last material remains of the great Asante civilization, which reached its high point in the 18th century. Since the dwellings are made of earth, wood and straw, they are vulnerable to the onslaught of time and weather.
