- Lavaux, Vineyard Terraces , Switzerland -
 * 로잔(Lausanne)과 브베-몽트뢰(Vevey-Montreux) 사이 레만호(湖) 인근에 있는 포도밭으로 언덕 경사면에 계단 모양으로 형성된 테라스식 포도밭과 주변 마을의 경관이 아름답게 어우러진 곳이다. 11세기 경 수도원에서 포도밭을 일구면서 포도를 재배하기 시작하였다고 전해진다.

* The Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, stretching for about 30 km along the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva from the Chateau de Chillon to the eastern outskirts of Lausanne in the Vaud region, cover the lower slopes of the mountainside between the villages and the lake. Although there is some evidence that vines were grown in the area in Roman times, the present vine terraces can be traced back to the 11th century, when Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries controlled the area. It is an outstanding example of a centuries-long interaction between people and their environment, developed to optimize local resources so as to produce a highly valued wine that has always been important to the economy.

* 티시노 계곡의 고대마을을 방어하기 위한 성.

* The Bellinzone site consists of a group of fortifications grouped around the castle of Castelgrande, which stands on a rocky peak looking out over the entire Ticino valley. Running from the castle, a series of fortified walls protect the ancient town and block the passage through the valley. A second castle (Montebello) forms an integral part of the fortifications, while a third but separate castle (Sasso Corbaro) was built on an isolated rocky promontory south-east of the other fortifications.

* The Convent of St Gall, a perfect example of a great Carolingian monastery, was, from the 8th century to its secularization in 1805, one of the most important in Europe. Its library is one of the richest and oldest in the world and contains precious manuscripts such as the earliest-known architectural plan drawn on parchment. From 1755 to 1768, the conventual area was rebuilt in Baroque style. The cathedral and the library are the main features of this remarkable architectural complex, reflecting 12 centuries of continuous activity.

Work began on the construction of this outstanding Renaissance castle in 1574, and its defences were reinforced according to the canons of the period's military architecture in the late 17th century. It has remained intact to the present day. It is world-renowned as Elsinore, the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Thus it provides a clear overview of the development of European religious architecture.

* The Plantin-Moretus Museum is a printing plant and publishing house dating from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Situated in Antwerp, one of the three leading cities of early European printing along with Paris and Venice, it is associated with the history of the invention and spread of typography. Its name refers to the greatest printer-publisher of the second half of the 16th century: Christophe Plantin (c. 1520–89). The monument is of outstanding architectural value. It contains exhaustive evidence of the life and work of what was the most prolific printing and publishing house in Europe in the late 16th century. The building of the company, which remained in activity until 1867, contains a large collection of old printing equipment, an extensive library, invaluable archives and works of art, among them a painting by Rubens.

* The outstanding contribution made by the people of the Netherlands to the technology of handling water is admirably demonstrated by the installations in the Kinderdijk-Elshout area. Construction of hydraulic works for the drainage of land for agriculture and settlement began in the Middle Ages and have continued uninterruptedly to the present day. The site illustrates all the typical features associated with this technology – dykes, reservoirs, pumping stations, administrative buildings and a series of beautifully preserved windmills.

* Extending 135 km around the city of Amsterdam, this defence line (built between 1883 and 1920) is the only example of a fortification based on the principle of controlling the waters. Since the 16th century, the people of the Netherlands have used their expert knowledge of hydraulic engineering for defence purposes. The centre of the country was protected by a network of 45 armed forts, acting in concert with temporary flooding from polders and an intricate system of canals and locks.

* 선사시대 인간거주의 주요 유적으로 바다와 경쟁하였던 네덜란드인들의 불굴의 투쟁을 보여줌 
 
* Schokland was a peninsula that by the 15th century had become an island. Occupied and then abandoned as the sea encroached, it had to be evacuated in 1859. But following the draining of the Zuider Zee, it has, since the 1940s, formed part of the land reclaimed from the sea. Schokland has vestiges of human habitation going back to prehistoric times. It symbolizes the heroic, age-old struggle of the people of the Netherlands against the encroachment of the waters.

* 독일 북서부에 있는 브레멘 시장에 위치한 시청 건물과 로랜드 상은 신성로마제국에서 발전된 유럽의 시민권과 교역권을 상징하는 대표적인 유산이다.
* 구(舊)시청 건물은 15세기 고딕풍으로 브레멘이 한자동맹에 가입한 뒤 세워졌다가 17세기 초 일명 붸저 르네상스풍으로 개조되었다. 20세기 초에 신(新)청사가 이 구청사 옆에 세워졌고 2차 세계대전 동안 폭격에도 두 건물 모두 건재했다. 로랜드 상은 높이 5.5m로 1404년에 만들었다. 
 
* The Town Hall and the statue of Roland on the marketplace of Bremen in north-west Germany are outstanding representations of civic autonomy and sovereignty, as these developed in the Holy Roman Empire in Europe. The old town hall was built in the Gothic style in the early 15th century, after Bremen joined the Hanseatic League. The building was renovated in the so-called Weser Renaissance style in the early 17th century. A new town hall was built next to the old one in the early 20th century as part of an ensemble that survived bombardment during the Second World War. The statue stands 5.5 m tall and dates back to 1404.

* The 18th- and 19th-century cultural landscape of Dresden Elbe Valley extends some 18 km along the river from Übigau Palace and Ostragehege fields in the north-west to the Pillnitz Palace and the Elbe River Island in the south-east. It features low meadows, and is crowned by the Pillnitz Palace and the centre of Dresden with its numerous monuments and parks from the 16th to 20th centuries. The landscape also features 19th- and 20th-century suburban villas and gardens and valuable natural features. Some terraced slopes along the river are still used for viticulture and some old villages have retained their historic structure and elements from the industrial revolution, notably the 147-m Blue Wonder steel bridge (1891–93), the single-rail suspension cable railway (1898–1901), and the funicular (1894–95). The passenger steamships (the oldest from 1879) and shipyard (c. 1900) are still in use.

* 독일 북부의 발틱 해안에 자리 잡은 중세 도시 비스마르와 슈트랄준트는 14, 15세기에 Hanseatic League의 주요 상업 중심지였다. 17, 18세기에 이 두 도시는 독일 영토에서 스웨덴의 행정적, 방어적 중심지가 되기도 하였다. 이 도시들은 발틱 지역의 벽돌 고딕 양식의 기술과 빌딩 형태의 특징을 개발하는데 기여하였다. 벽돌 성당들, 슈트랄준트의 시청, 공예, 상업 및 주거를 위한 집들 등은 수 세기 동안의 건축양식의 변화를 설명해 주고 있다.
 
 * The medieval towns of Wismar and Stralsund, on the Baltic coast of northern Germany, were major trading centres of the Hanseatic League in the 14th and 15th centuries.
